NPN Hill Day: Elevating the NICU Parent Voice

Join us for NPN Hill Day, where NICU Parent Leaders and advocates from across the country will come together to amplify the voices of NICU families on Capitol Hill. This powerful day of advocacy will focus on key issues including parental presence in the NICU, access to mental health resources for parents, stillbirth research, and premature infant nutrition. Together, we will educate policymakers and push for meaningful change that supports NICU families at every stage of their journey. Your voice matters—let’s make it heard!

What is a Hill Day?

An organized advocacy event where individuals or groups meet with lawmakers and their staff on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to discuss important policy issues.

Why is NPN Convening a Hill Day?

By establishing NICU parents as a constituency, we will gather to educate policymakers, share personal stories, and push for legislative action.

Which Issues Are NPN Focusing On?

Bipartisan co-sponsors, Congressman McGarvey (D-KY) and Congresswoman Houchin (R-IN), have filed a federal resolution, drafted by NPN, in support of NPN’s NICU Baby’s Bill of Rights that seeks to inform and empower NICU clinicians to facilitate parent-infant bonding.

Supporting Medicaid coverage of human milk-derived fortifier.
Supporting the Shine for Autumn Act.
Supporting the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline.

Do I Have to Support the Same Items NPN is Focused On?

Not at all! We only ask that by registering and attending, you agree to support Federal Resolution HR 236 in support of the NICU Baby’s Bill of Rights. We encourage you to speak to your representatives’ staff about the issues most pressing for your local community.

I've Never Done This Before. Can I Still Attend?

Absolutely!! And don’t worry! We will provide training on how to tell your story in an impactful manner in 3 minutes or less! We will also provide bill briefings on the items NPN is focusing on, which will include talking points and leave-behind materials.

How Do I Meet With Staffers?

Leave that to us! We will make the appointments for you with the staffers for your home district, and we will send you out in pairs or groups so you won’t be flying solo!

What Your Registration Includes:

  • Bill briefing
  • Advocacy training
  • Dinner on July 22nd and breakfast & lunch on July 23rd
  • Talking points & fact sheet on each bill
  • Meetings scheduled for you with staff for your US Representative and Senators
