Abstract Submission Guidelines

Submitting an abstract for consideration does not guarantee acceptance.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Summit Planning Committee, all applicants will be contacted regarding a decision no later than May 15, 2024.
NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED
ALL ABSTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE FORM
EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED

Submission Process

All Abstracts are to be submitted through our online abstract submission system. All submissions will require a 3-5-minute video abstract submission.

Provide a 3-5-minute maximum video abstract for your session. Reviewers are instructed to end the video at the 5-minute mark so be sure you do not go over the time limit.
If you plan to have a co-presenter, only the LEAD presenter needs to submit a video abstract.
You do not need to introduce yourself.
Do not read your written abstract submission.
Answer these questions in your video submission:
1. How were you ACTIVATED to do the work you do? What drives you?****
2. What is your topic?
3. How is the topic relevant to the audience of NICU Parent Leaders who run
organizations/companies/programs for NICU and bereaved families?
4. What are your top two takeaways for the attendees?

Co-Presenter Information
If you are doing a panel presentation and have more than the lead presenter and co-presenter,
please add names and email addresses at the end of the form in the additional comments box so we may send them a link to this form to complete.

Be hyper-aware of who the audience is – this is not a group of healthcare providers nor are these parents who just got out of the NICU. The audience is NICU Parent Leaders who actively run support programs, community-based nonprofits, and small businesses.

Review Process

Abstracts will be reviewed and objectively rated based on the relevance and quality of the topic, the ability of the submitter to follow all guidelines, the clarity with which the topic is explained, and the relevant literature supporting the topic as appropriate.

Critical Points: Please Read This Section Carefully:

All abstract submissions must follow the guidelines and contain all information as requested.
Submissions must use inclusive language. Read our Inclusive Language Agreement
A limit of two abstracts per organization may be submitted. If submitting a panel presentation only one abstract for the panel should be submitted. If your abstract is accepted and you agree to present it, you must register for the summit to guarantee a
place in the program. Your presentation date and time will be assigned by the program planning committee once all approved
abstracts are confirmed. The committee will make every effort to accommodate scheduling requests as needed for extenuating circumstances, but cannot guarantee the requests will be honored.

Abstract Selection & Notification

The Planning Committee will select abstracts and finalize the summit program. For each accepted abstract, the Planning Committee will assign the time and date of the presentation on the conference schedule.
If your abstract is accepted for presentation, you will be notified via email by May 15, 2024, with your presentation date and time. This notice is sent to the contact person for each presentation and/or to the panel organizer. The contact person is asked to share the information with the other author(s).

Session Type Descriptions

2024 NPN Leadership Summit will utilize various presentation styles to engage audience members and avoid simply being “talked at.”
Please read these descriptions carefully before you select your session type below. Think about the best possible learning format for the audience to understand and metabolize your topic.

**Big Idea Sessions**
Speakers will conduct a 15-minute TedX-style talk sharing something new and existing or a compelling take on an idea or topic. This was very successful at the 2023 Summit, we encourage you to submit for this style!
Session Flow: An NPN Representative will introduce three Big Idea Sessions and the speakers will follow one after another. We will offer 20 minutes after each block of three talks for Q & A with the audience. We will have at least one, possibly two, Big Idea Session blocks.
Are slides required? Slides will NOT be utilized for these talks.

Workshop
Speakers will conduct a 75-90 minute workshop for their topic area of expertise.
Session Flow: An NPN Representative will introduce you and then you will conduct your workshop. An NPN Representative will be available to keep time and close the workshop at the end.
Are slides required? Slides are expected for workshops but if you conduct workshops regularly without them that is fine as well. This must be agreed upon with NPN Executive Director.

Discussion Panel
Panel Speaker sessions will take place either in a general session or in a breakout session depending on the topic and appropriate audience.
Session Length: 75 minutes, allowing for 60 minutes of moderated discussion and 15 minutes for Q & A
with the audience.
Are slides required? Slides are not required but if you have a limited number to emphasize any particular points that are not a problem.

General Session Fireside Chat

General Sessions will take place with all attendees and will again employ the use of an interview-style fireside chat with engagement with the audience throughout.
Session Length: 60 minutes, allowing for active participation with the audience.
Are slides required? Slides are not required but if you have a limited number to emphasize any particular points that is not a problem.

Are you ready to submit?
